Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Early Childhood Education to lead our preschool special education programs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, special education, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement district-wide early childhood education programs, including preschool special education.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to early childhood education staff, including special education teachers and support staff.
  • Collaborate with district office, community partners, and school-based staff to improve instruction and services for young children with disabilities.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of professional development opportunities for early childhood education staff.
  • Oversee the selection and evaluation of educational materials and resources for early childhood education programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Maryland State Department of Education's policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage budgets for early childhood education programs, including special education.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to schools and staff on early childhood education and special education issues.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in early childhood education, special education, or a related field.
  • Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrator I endorsement from the Maryland State Department of Education.
  • At least 3 years of experience in early childhood education, special education, or a related field.
  • Experience in leadership and supervision, including staff development and management.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and special education laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and community partners.
