Job Title: Building Code Plans Reviewer III

Join the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction as a Building Code Plans Reviewer III and be part of a team dedicated to protecting the lives and property of the Commonwealth.

About the Role:

This position is responsible for reviewing architectural or engineering drawings and related documents to ensure compliance with the building code, energy conservation code, and reference standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Work with field inspectors to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Issue certificates of occupancy and conduct site visits as necessary.
  • Consult with design professionals, contractors, and owners to resolve building code issues.
  • Investigate consumer complaints and provide technical assistance as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate.
  • Four years of experience in drafting or preparing building construction documents or in the supervision of building construction.
  • Current certificate for Level III plans and specifications inspector issued by the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Sufficient technical knowledge of construction practices and techniques.
Working Conditions:

This position is typically performed in an office setting, with occasional site visits required.

Probationary Period:

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS.
