The RoleThe Vice President will play a critical role in leading SLAC's management and operations, working closely with the Lab Director and Stanford University leadership. This position requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the national laboratory system, research-intensive universities, and the DOE mission.
Responsibilities- Acting on behalf of the President in overseeing the SLAC contract
- Leading the development and implementation of Stanford's oversight and governance role as the prime contractor for SLAC
- Chairing the SLAC Board of Oversight
- Supporting SLAC on issues where DOE expects regular contractor engagement from Stanford
- Working with university and SLAC leadership to advance research and infrastructure partnership opportunities between Stanford, SLAC, and DOE
- Advanced degree in a field of relevance to the DOE mission
- At least 15 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Deep knowledge of the national laboratory system and extensive experience working with the Department of Energy and Congress
- Excellent relationship management skills
