Job Summary

This is a supervisory position responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC/R systems, building automation systems, and associated equipment in County facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct a team of HVAC/R technicians and other staff to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and repair of HVAC/R systems and equipment.
  • Perform periodic performance appraisals and provide feedback to staff.
  • Participate in the selection of new employees and make hiring recommendations to the Manager of Facility Systems.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Coordinate staff involvement in remodel or new construction projects involving HVAC/R equipment.
  • Inspect and evaluate the day-to-day efforts to keep County HVAC/R equipment functioning efficiently, safely, and comfortably for occupants and visitors.
  • Respond to departmental requests for repairs and maintenance of HVAC/R equipment and IAQ issues.
  • Provide input for annual budget preparation and maintain records and reports on applicable regulatory agency requirements, inventory, equipment, and project status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Project Management Duties
  • Identify and make recommendations for necessary and/or requested improvements in relation to specific projects.
  • Identify project risks and barriers and develop strategies to mitigate and/or overcome them.
  • Interact and communicate with stakeholders, vendors, and other project team members to ensure project deliverables are being achieved on schedule and within budget.
  • Make field decisions regarding project scope and budget as appropriate.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and County's Finance Department to verify funding sources for all assigned projects.
