Clinical Nurse Supervisor for Surgical Services (General, Urology & Bariatric Surgery)

Overview


The Clinical Nurse Supervisor plays a pivotal role in applying growth and development principles while assessing and interpreting patient data, as well as planning and executing personalized care tailored to the age-related needs of patients across various demographics, including adolescents, adults, and the elderly, along with their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee circulating and scrub duties within the surgical team.
  • Assume full responsibility and accountability for the Clinical Nurse role.
  • Coordinate the activities of the assigned surgical team under limited supervision.
  • Manage equipment and supply inventory effectively.
  • Develop and communicate policies and procedures to ensure optimal service quality.
  • Perform clinical duties to maintain high standards of care and continuity of service.
  • Act as a liaison to the Operating Room Manager and Patient Care Coordinator for the surgical team's responsibilities.
  • Exhibit mastery in nursing functions to mentor and educate other patient care team members, evaluate the care provided, and perform advanced nursing tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and physicians to proactively identify and address customer needs, adhering to quality service standards.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with successful completion of the State Board of Nursing Licensure Exam.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Must obtain 20 Contact hours, with at least fifty percent focused on clinical practice. Academic course credits may be utilized on a 1:1 credit hour exchange.

Licensure:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.

Certifications:

  • Current CPR certification.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in computer applications and technical skills, including:
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Meditech and Epic (if applicable).
  • Performance Manager/NetLearning.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Capable of working independently and making sound decisions when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate tactfully with staff, visitors, patients, physicians, and the public.
  • Flexibility, integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
