Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Interventional Radiographer II is responsible for executing both routine and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic angiography procedures. This role adheres to established protocols to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions while ensuring optimal operational efficiency and patient throughput.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties outline the essential functions of this position:

Clinical Duties

  • Operate angiography equipment and apply ionizing radiation in compliance with standard protocols.
  • Welcome and prepare patients, verifying their identity and explaining procedures clearly.
  • Position patients appropriately and ensure their comfort throughout the process.
  • Conduct angiography and digital subtraction angiography, utilizing sterile techniques and nursing protocols.
  • Manage imaging equipment to capture high-quality radiographic images, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
  • Implement radiation safety measures and select appropriate technical parameters for each patient.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to review patient histories and determine procedural requirements.
  • Assist in specialized diagnostic and interventional procedures, preparing necessary equipment and materials.
  • Monitor patient conditions during procedures, utilizing various medical devices to ensure safety.
  • Prepare and manage medications for administration under the guidance of a radiologist.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of angiography equipment and workspaces.
  • Document patient statistics and maintain accurate records in the radiology information system.
  • Respond to urgent requests for angiography services as needed.

Operational Management

  • Oversee inventory and supply levels, coordinating with vendors as necessary.
  • Assist in prioritizing interventional procedure requests to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Report equipment issues and patient concerns to appropriate supervisory personnel.

Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Possess advanced certification in Cardiovascular Interventional Technology or Vascular Intervention.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Licensed by the Maryland Department of Health as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist.
  • Comprehensive understanding of radiology principles, including anatomy, radiation safety, and patient care.
  • Ability to operate radiology equipment and demonstrate effective communication skills.
