Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Interventional Radiographer II is responsible for executing both routine and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic angiography procedures. These procedures are essential for aiding physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions, while ensuring optimal operational efficiency and patient throughput.

Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary duties associated with this role:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced angiography equipment while adhering to established safety protocols and departmental guidelines.
  • Welcome and prepare patients for procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding of the process.
  • Position patients appropriately and perform angiography and digital subtraction angiography, applying sterile techniques and radiographic methods.
  • Operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality radiographic images, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Implement radiation safety measures and select appropriate technical parameters tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to review patient histories and films, ensuring the correct application of procedures.
  • Assist physicians during specialized diagnostic and interventional tasks, preparing necessary instruments and explaining procedures to patients.
  • Monitor patient conditions throughout procedures, utilizing various medical equipment to ensure continuous care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of angiography equipment and workspaces, performing minor troubleshooting as needed.
  • Document patient statistics and maintain accurate records in the radiology information system.

Operational Management

  • Oversee inventory levels and communicate supply needs to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Assist in prioritizing interventional procedure requests to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Report any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and document incidents as per departmental policies.

Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain advanced certifications relevant to interventional radiography.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Comprehensive understanding of radiology principles, including anatomy, radiation safety, and patient care protocols.
  • Proficiency in operating radiological equipment and managing patient information systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate interactions with patients and healthcare teams.
