Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Interventional Radiographer II is responsible for executing both routine and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic angiography procedures. This role involves adherence to established protocols to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions while ensuring optimal operational efficiency and patient throughput.
Key Responsibilities
The following responsibilities outline the essential functions of this position:
Clinical Duties
- Utilize angiography equipment and apply ionizing radiation in accordance with established protocols.
- Welcome and prepare patients for procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
- Position patients correctly and assist them during the procedures.
- Conduct angiography and digital subtraction angiography using sterile techniques.
- Operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality radiographic images and manage the PACS system.
- Implement radiation safety measures and select appropriate technical factors for each patient.
- Collaborate with radiologists to review patient histories and imaging requirements.
- Assist in specialized diagnostic and interventional procedures, preparing necessary equipment and instruments.
- Monitor patient conditions throughout procedures, utilizing various medical equipment.
- Prepare and manage medications for administration during procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of angiography equipment and workspace.
- Document patient statistics and maintain accurate records in the radiology information system.
Operational Management
- Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring readiness for procedures.
- Assist in prioritizing interventional procedure requests for efficient workflow.
- Report any equipment issues and assist in troubleshooting as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient preparation and procedure details.
Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain advanced certifications relevant to the field.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Licensed as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist.
- Proficient in radiology principles, patient care, and safety protocols.
- Ability to operate radiological equipment and manage patient information systems.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
