Position Summary


In this role, the Radiology Intervention Specialist operates under indirect supervision to conduct high-quality diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols.

You will coordinate the daily workflow of the lab, ensuring that all procedures are performed efficiently and effectively. Your responsibilities will include operating advanced imaging equipment, preparing and administering contrast media, and maintaining a safe environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute a range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures to uphold the quality of patient care.
2. Confirm patient identity and ensure all requisition details align with clinical diagnoses.
3. Document relevant information accurately and consistently.
4. Assess patient conditions and guarantee safety through appropriate radiation practices and positioning devices.
5. Organize patient care effectively, prioritizing critical needs and following physician directives.
6. Manage IV access and administer contrast media as required, monitoring vital signs and recognizing contraindications.
7. Prepare and maintain sterile trays and necessary accessories for procedures.
8. Process patient information through the Meditech system to ensure accurate documentation and billing.
9. Participate in expense control initiatives and recommend improvements.
10. Prepare patients for sterile procedures in accordance with established protocols.
11. Ensure all radiographs and digital images are properly marked and identified.
12. Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
13. Collaborate with nursing and physician staff to monitor patient conditions throughout procedures.
14. Maintain cleanliness and proper stocking of interventional rooms.
15. Foster positive relationships with departmental staff, patients, families, and visitors.

As part of your role, you will demonstrate the technical skills necessary to provide quality care to diverse patient populations, ensuring that you meet the developmental needs of each individual.

Qualifications

Applicants must be graduates of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program, registered by the ARRT, and licensed in the state of Maryland. A basic cardiac rhythm recognition course is also required.

Experience: A minimum of one year in radiology and six months in interventional procedures is preferred, though we are willing to train the right candidate.
