Youth Development Specialist

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and teaching life skills and social skills.
About the Role:
- Build strong relationships with youth and staff, promoting a positive and collaborative approach
- Maintain healthy boundaries and provide guidance on various lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural practices
- Assess emergency situations, gather information, and provide support
- Follow reporting and licensing policies and procedures
- De-escalate youth in crises and utilize anti-racist, inclusive, and trauma-informed care
Responsibilities:
- Process intakes and exits for youth, provide orientation, and maintain records
- Partner with case managers to support youth case plans and interact with staff
- Supervise youth, ensure safety, and hold them accountable to policies and guidelines
- Assist with household tasks, meal planning, and grocery shopping
- Arrange appointments, fill prescriptions, and dispense medication
- Communicate with other providers and respond to community calls and referrals
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of experience working with youth
- DCYF background clearance
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
