Position: Restorative Care Nursing Assistant

Shift: 8 Hours - Day Shifts

Job Schedule: Full-time

Department Details:

Work hours typically from 6 am to 2:30 pm, including every other weekend and holiday.

Role Summary

The Restorative Care Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate care to residents in long-term care settings. This position involves implementing mobility, balance, and strengthening exercises as part of therapeutic activities. Responsibilities include utilizing adaptive equipment, fall prevention strategies, and proper techniques for turning, positioning, and basic range of motion exercises.

Additionally, the assistant aids in training and executing specialized programs aimed at enhancing residents' quality of life and their ability to perform daily activities independently. It is essential to document residents' progress and promptly report any changes in their condition.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily living activities such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting.
  • Demonstrating the correct application of therapeutic treatments like heat and cold therapies.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic medical records.
  • Ensuring proper handling and disposal of linens and supplies in accordance with health regulations.
  • Providing resident-centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).

Qualifications

Applicants should ideally possess a high school diploma or GED, although this is not mandatory. A minimum age of 16 is required, with prior experience in clinical or nursing assistant roles preferred.

Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is required, along with completion of a CNA training program and at least 40 hours of specialized training in restorative care procedures.

Successful candidates will complete annual competency testing and maintain a record of continuing education credits.
