Peer Support Specialist 2

Central Counties Services is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist 2 to join our team. As a Family Partner/Family Support Specialist, you will provide direct services to specifically identified parents of child consumers who have elected to receive parent support services.
Working with the Wraparound Team, you will serve as a liaison between the identified family and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team, providing peer mentoring, non-clinical contact, informal support, and information.
The mission of this position is to support the parent as the child goes through the treatment process, thereby increasing satisfaction with services and helping to improve parental understanding of and adherence to treatment goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provides a point of contact for the family with regard to non-clinical matters and community information.
- Provides peer mentoring and support as needed to parents of consumers who have elected the "family partner" option in their service packages.
- May provide direct services to family members in groups as the leader of a peer-facilitated educational group centered on issues related to diagnosis and treatment under Center services.
- Completes documentation and submits it in a timely and accurate manner, according to program guidelines to ensure standards are met.
- Interfaces with other treatment team members and may attend staffing, assessments, ARDs, or other meetings as needed if this is the wish of the Consumer's family and if this is included in the treatment plan.
- Attends all wraparound meetings.
- Completes all Center assigned training, and maintains Center training renewals and certifications as required to remain current.
- Have a high school diploma, or a high school equivalency certificate issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state.
- One cumulative year of experience navigating the mental health system as the parent or primary caregiver of a youth receiving mental health community services;
- Basic knowledge of mental health (MH) diagnoses and medications.
- Ability to speak in public.
- Ability to follow through with established goals and objectives.
- Ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to see, hear and talk effectively within job requirements.
- Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to effectively handle potentially aggressive behavior in a positive manner.
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers' license with an acceptable driving record.
- Regular attendance and reliability is critical to business operations.
