Job Title: Residential Support Specialist

The Residential Support Specialist is a key member of our team, responsible for providing high-quality support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with daily living activities such as grooming, eating, bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with meal planning, preparation, and housekeeping.
  • Assist with ambulation and mobility as needed.
  • Secure and provide transportation.
  • Reinforce counseling and therapy activities.
  • Assist with medications and delegated tasks.
  • Supervise and ensure individuals' health, safety, and security.
  • Facilitate community activities, natural support, social interaction, and participation in leisure activities.
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness in duties.
  • Maintain good work and personal ethics in dealing with co-workers and resident consumers.
  • Do not engage in activities other than official business during work hours.
  • Present a neat, clean appearance, dressed appropriately for the job, and practice personal hygiene.
  • Adhere to Attendance Policy - Work when scheduled, beginning and ending work as expected; call in according to policy; observe policies on break and lunch periods; use work time appropriately, record all hours worked as instructed.
  • Report incidents/injuries on time.
  • Cooperate in internal/external investigations.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of company and consumer information.
  • Participate and assist in developing the Personal Development Plan (PDP) for the individuals served.
  • Ensure implementation of the PDP as it relates to residential services.
  • Report to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) any problems, proposed program changes, the behavior of individuals served, concerns, training needs, medical concerns, dietary issues, etc.
  • Ensure documentation of behaviors, incidents, injuries, program data collection, medication data, and progress notes completed accurately and on time.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Accept direction and feedback from supervisors and follow through appropriately.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Driving record that meets minimum standards, allowing for insurance coverage under the company's insurance.
  • Clear background check, including criminal history.
