Job Title: Senior Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist

Position Overview:

The Senior Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for leading the department that conducts diagnostic, non-invasive, and invasive cardiac examinations utilizing ultrasound technology to assess cardiac health. The modalities employed include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress Testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, schedule, and coordinate the activities of the cardiac sonography team.
  • Conduct interviews, performance evaluations, and make decisions regarding personnel management.
  • Manage time and attendance records for team members, ensuring accuracy in the timekeeping system.
  • Execute all essential duties of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Exhibit proficiency in performing both non-invasive and invasive cardiac examinations.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of cardiac anatomy, examination procedures, and result interpretation.
  • Availability for on-call duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant health science field, preferably with a focus on cardiovascular technology or ultrasonography.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Must hold a credential in echocardiography from one of the following organizations:
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer is required.
  • Preferred candidates will have two years of experience in this role.
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) is preferred.
