We are in search of a skilled and adaptable Marketing & Communications Writer to enhance our Marketing, Communications, and External Relations team. This role is pivotal in crafting engaging written content across multiple platforms, aimed at amplifying NEC's marketing and communication strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a flair for creative writing, a solid grasp of SEO practices, and the versatility to tailor their writing style to various formats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compose captivating news articles by identifying relevant topics, conducting thorough research, and performing interviews.
  • Create original content for features, reports, print materials, digital advertisements, promotional campaigns, and web content that resonates with both the NEC community and a broader audience, ensuring consistency with NEC's brand voice.
  • Develop and implement email marketing communications, including newsletters and targeted outreach.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar for news stories, newsletters, social media, and website content, collaborating with various departments to ensure timely updates.
  • Apply SEO best practices to web content to enhance visibility in search engine results.
  • Act as the in-house copy editor, ensuring a uniform tone and quality across all published materials, while adhering to NEC's editorial style guidelines.
  • Generate engaging captions and content for social media, working closely with the Digital Content Coordinator to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Assist in sourcing and recommending media for digital platforms, including attending events and conducting interviews.
  • Adapt content length to fit various distribution channels, including websites, newsletters, and social media.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions team to produce written materials for brochures, advertisements, and other marketing collateral.
  • Ensure that admissions materials effectively convey NEC's unique offerings and value proposition.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Engage in discussions with students, alumni, faculty, and staff to gather editorial content.
  • Contribute to strategic content development and planning initiatives.
  • Oversee freelance writing consultants, including the distribution of assignments.
  • Assist in researching competitors and market trends as necessary.
  • Support management of external consultant relationships as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in writing across various mediums, including web, email, print, and reports.
  • Strong SEO knowledge and familiarity with keyword research tools.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to NEC's values of cultural equity and inclusion.
  • A passion for music and an understanding of the arts and higher education is advantageous.
  • Experience with CRM systems is a plus.
