Position Overview:

The role of the Collections Supervisor is pivotal in overseeing the team of commercial collectors and ensuring efficient daily operations. Reporting directly to the Credit Manager, this position requires adept multitasking abilities and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage escalated collection inquiries and provide support to customers as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions on the systems utilized within the department.
  • Delegate workloads and aging accounts to the collection team.
  • Evaluate the performance of collectors by reviewing their completed assignments and ensuring thoroughness.
  • Assess and approve or reject requests related to repossessions and bad debt write-offs.
  • Monitor delinquency metrics and coach team members on strategies to improve these rates.
  • Occasionally undertake special projects as assigned by the Director of Credit & Collections or the Credit Manager.
  • Engage in the hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation of collection staff.
  • Generate performance and departmental reports as required.
  • Support collectors during peak call times and assist with challenging accounts.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate collection actions are taken against delinquent accounts.
  • Communicate with delinquent customers through various channels.
  • Assist in reconciling complex customer accounts as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, maintaining regular attendance to fulfill essential job functions.

  • Database Management Systems

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial collections is necessary.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with collections policies and procedures.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in collections or credit management is beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and intermediate computer proficiency are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
