Job Overview

This role is classified as Full-Time, hourly, and non-exempt. The workload for this position varies throughout the year, averaging over 35 hours per week, with increased hours during peak seasons and reduced hours during off-peak times. Flexibility on weekends is essential as the HR department operates seven days a week. The HR Specialist will also assist in other departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

The HR Specialist oversees daily human resource operations at Tagawa Gardens and may supervise 1-2 HR Assistants to ensure coverage throughout the week. Responsibilities include:

Workforce Management, Training, and Recruitment

  • Evaluate staffing needs and collaborate with HR Assistants to:
  • Engage with supervisors to determine seasonal staffing requirements.
  • Source candidates through approved recruitment strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal job posting regulations.
  • Manage applicant flow and maintain documentation.
  • Conduct phone screenings and schedule interviews.
  • Facilitate orientation and onboarding for new hires.
  • Analyze pay structures to assist management in attracting and retaining talent.
  • Track employee milestones such as promotions and rewards.
  • Support training initiatives and coordinate in-house training sessions.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Compile weekly labor hour reports for management.
  • Review and update employee handbooks to meet legal standards.
  • Monitor compliance with HR regulations and assist in investigations.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure proper documentation flow.
  • Archive employee records according to retention policies.
  • Assist management in implementing new policies and procedures.

Safety and Worker Compensation

  • Complete necessary documentation for workplace injuries.
  • Collaborate with various agencies for safety inspections and compliance.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee to foster a safe work environment.

Payroll and Employee Relations

  • Serve as the primary contact for the labor tracking system.
  • Manage time-off requests and related paperwork.
  • Provide guidance on employee performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster professional relationships with staff and assist with evaluations.
  • Monitor employee morale and conduct exit interviews.
  • Assist with employee benefits enrollment and inquiries.

Additional Duties: The HR Specialist may be required to assist with various departmental tasks as assigned, emphasizing teamwork and communication.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR, payroll, or related fields.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office required.
  • Ability to lift and move items as needed.
