Job Summary:

As a Department Manager RN, you will oversee the operations of a large unit or multiple units, providing ambulatory services to members across the continuum. You will ensure that staff provides high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care, while complying with local, state, and federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a large unit or multiple units, ensuring seamless delivery of patient care services.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to establish, implement, and maintain patient care and quality service standards.
  • Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and ensuring that patients receive high-quality care.
  • Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and resource allocations, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
  • Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff.
  • Provide ongoing staff development and training to ensure that staff has the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee, and department safety and risk management issues.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives.
Requirements:
  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience in management/leadership roles required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience required.
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field required, or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Additional Requirements:
  • PALS, PEARS, and/or ACLS certifications may be required for positions in specific departments.
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an outpatient care setting.
  • Clinical specialization in the area of practice.
  • Masters degree preferred.
