Job Summary:

As a Department Manager RN, you will oversee the operations of a large unit or multiple units, ensuring staff provides high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care to members across the continuum. You will develop and maintain clinical practice standards, budgets, and staff development programs, while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a large unit or multiple units, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to establish, implement, and maintain patient care and quality service standards.
  • Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and ensuring patient satisfaction.
  • Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and resource allocations, ensuring financial performance and identifying strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care.
  • Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff.
  • Provide ongoing staff development and training programs to ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care.
  • Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee, and department safety and risk management issues.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience in management/leadership roles required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or health-related field required or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification required.
  • PALS, PEARS, and/or ACLS certifications may be required for positions in specific departments.
  • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an outpatient care setting.
  • Clinical specialization in area of practice.
  • Masters degree preferred.
