The Nurse Residency Program is a 12-month, extensive transition-to-practice initiative designed to support your evolution from a nursing student to a professional nurse through education, mentorship, and peer collaboration. This program equips new graduate nurses with the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to enhance quality and safety at the point of care. It integrates precepted orientation, guided by dedicated mentors, with a variety of blended learning experiences.
Nurse Residents Will
- Develop clinical judgment to swiftly identify changes in patient conditions and the urgency of clinical situations.
- Cultivate exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with colleagues and support patients.
- Participate in cohort experiences aimed at fostering peer and professional socialization, reinforcing your commitment to the nursing profession.
- Acquire didactic content specifically tailored for new graduates from professional nursing organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The staff nurse delivers nursing care to patients across the lifespan, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. They operate within the framework of organizational policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is accountable for maintaining practice standards and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Leadership capabilities, effective communication skills, initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to manage stressful situations.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum Experience Required
New graduates of a nursing program are eligible.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Georgia.
BLS certification is mandatory.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Advanced certification in a specialty area, if applicable.
