Associate Director of Career Education

This role is responsible for developing and delivering career development courses as part of the Indiana University Career Services team. The successful candidate will have effective judgment and industry expertise to assist in making determinations regarding course content.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the development and amendment of career course curriculum as student needs and industry trends change.
- Teaches up to 8 sections of career development courses per year.
- Advises students in 1-on-1 meetings as part of the career course requirements in topics that include self-assessment, career exploration, resume and cover letters, job search strategies, interview preparation, and salary/job offer negotiation.
- Updates course resources and content each semester, such as presentations, in-class activities, readings and videos, workbooks, etc., based on course evaluations and feedback.
- Develops and presents career workshops and programming to Indiana University students.
- Collaborates with colleagues within Indiana University and on the IUB campus to ensure career success for Indiana University students.
- Stays current on trends in the technology industry to knowledgeably inform students of competencies employers seek and present accurate and up-to-date information to students.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related field. 5 years in career consulting or related field. Proficient communication skills. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. Highly thorough and dependable. Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure. Possesses a high degree of initiative. Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents. Counseling skills, program development skills, understanding of college student success, knowledge of career development services in higher education, ability to interpret career assessments.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. The person hired for this role will be expected to travel and attend occasional professional development conferences.
