Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Process Engineer to enhance our Cleave and Coat Operations team based in Vancouver, Washington. This role is pivotal in fostering continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes and ensuring the successful transition of next-generation diode lasers from concept to high-volume production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining yield metrics through various analytical methods (e.g., SPC, Gauge R&R/MSA).
  • Support the manufacturing of established processes and products, including the creation of BOMs and routes, documentation of work instructions, and training of staff.
  • Assess, acquire, and validate new manufacturing equipment and materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering technicians on daily operational tasks.
  • Address complex technical challenges promptly to ensure adherence to production schedules.
  • Facilitate consensus among relevant groups prior to the implementation of new procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience, or a Master's degree in Physics (Material Science, Optical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering).
  • Hands-on experience with magnetron sputtering is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with other PVD techniques (MBE, e-Beam, IBS) is also beneficial.
  • Experience in thin film characterization methods.
  • Proven ability in failure analysis and root cause investigation.
  • Demonstrated experience in process development, including DoE, DFM, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Preferred knowledge in optical coating design.
  • Experience with UHV systems and equipment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming for data logging and management is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits:

nLIGHT offers a competitive salary based on qualifications:

· Process Engineer I: $80,000 - $90,000

· Process Engineer II: $87,000 - $95,000

· Sr Process Engineer III: $100,000 - $125,000

Additional benefits include:
