Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overall Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of the beverage distribution company's operations, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and delivery.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning with Executive Team and SVPs to develop and execute strategic plans and objectives for the company, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth: Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and increase market share, including identifying new business opportunities and fostering relationships with key customers.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of employees, including sales and operations managers, and administrative personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and employee satisfaction.
  • Supply Chain Management: Work with Supply Chain Department to ensure efficiency of the supply chain process, from sourcing and procurement to inventory management and order fulfillment, to oversee timely and efficient delivery of products to customers.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, addressing their needs and inquiries, and resolving any issues to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and manage the company's financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and profitability analysis, to achieve financial targets and maximize profitability.
  • Safety and Training: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including safety protocols, food safety regulations, and licensing requirements; oversee completion of job and safety training of all team members.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track operational performance, analyze data to identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify market trends, competition, and customer preferences, using insights to inform business decisions and develop targeted marketing strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, customer service, and overall business performance.

Supervision:

  • Directs recruitment and training for management-level staff in the location.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the location.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Manages discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Uses strengths-based supervision to ensure each person supervised knows their strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.
  • Models adherence to GDH's Mission and Values and holds staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values.
  • Completes coaching regularly of supervised staff and annual performance evaluation on due date.
  • Provides direct supervision to the Sales Managers and Operations Managers at the location, and indirect supervision of Warehouse Managers, Delivery Managers, and other sales and operations staff at the location, as assigned.

  • Actively participates in internal and external training opportunities.

  • Represents GDH Mission and Values at work and within the community at all times.

Technology:

  • Effectively uses office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer, and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.
  • Efficiently uses operations management software, including VIP.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in business administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry-related experience, including three years in upper management required.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use of VIP or similar software package.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented.
  • Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver's license in your state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community; work effectively as a member of the leadership team; effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media; manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision; and effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Frequently (50%+ of time) required to walk and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel object, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently (50%+ of time) lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Frequently (50%+ of time) specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Occasionally (less than 25% of time) exposed to moving mechanical equipment and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Frequently (more than 50% of time) travel throughout the GDH sites.
  • Occasional (less than 25% of time) weekend and/or overtime work, primarily at start-up or when taking on new business.
