Position Overview

Location: Lancaster, PA

Work Schedule: Per Diem, with one holiday requirement per year and one weekend day every six weeks. Shift details to be determined.

Experience Requirement: Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse experience in NICU is mandatory.

Role Summary:
The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is a registered nurse who plays a pivotal role within the healthcare team, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. This position emphasizes safe nursing practices and requires the nurse to demonstrate competency in various professional nursing domains.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care through the application of the nursing process, ensuring accountability for the care of assigned patients across all age groups, from infants to the elderly.

Key Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates must be able to:
  • Integrate the mission, vision, and values of Lancaster General Health into patient care planning.
  • Function as both an independent and collaborative member of the healthcare team, as outlined in the unit-based care provision plan.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions, while evaluating progress towards care outcomes.
  • Analyze assessment data to formulate age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care plans.
  • Implement care knowledgeably and coordinate patient care across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
  • Educate patients on healthy practices and treatment options.
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices through systematic evaluation and the use of technology.
Additional Responsibilities:
Other duties may include:
  • Managing rapidly changing situations and coordinating with appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Participating in process improvement initiatives to enhance continuity in nurse-patient relationships.
  • Completing mandatory training related to age-specific needs and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to established policies and reporting safety variances.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher nursing degree is required.
  • Completion of a Nurse Residency Program or over 15 months of nursing practice.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
As specified in the unit-based care provision plan.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
This role requires the ability to focus on specific tasks, learn new procedures quickly, and solve problems effectively. Candidates must be able to perform under stress and adapt to a variety of duties without loss of efficiency.

Working Conditions:
Exposure to biohazardous waste, bloodborne pathogens, and radioactive agents is part of this position.
