Position Overview: As a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Lancaster General Health, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. Work Schedule: This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 0.9 FTE (72 hours/2 weeks) with night shifts from 7pm to 7:30am, including rotating weekends and holidays. SIGN-ON BONUS may be available. Key Responsibilities: Qualified candidates will be expected to:
  • Integrate the mission, vision, and values of Lancaster General Health into patient care planning.
  • Operate both independently and collaboratively within the healthcare team as outlined in the unit's care provision plan.
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive aspects. Monitor progress towards goals and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Gather and manage comprehensive health data relevant to the patient's condition.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify diagnoses or issues, creating culturally and ethically sensitive care plans tailored to different age groups.
  • Deliver care knowledgeably while coordinating treatment across various disciplines and caregivers.
  • Provide leadership by clearly communicating care standards and supporting team members in their roles.
  • Uphold our core values of privacy, quality, respect, service, and teamwork.
  • Assign, delegate, and oversee the work of other staff, ensuring continuity of care and achievement of established outcomes.
  • Educate patients on healthy practices and treatment options.

  • Consider safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact in the planning and delivery of nursing services.
Additional Responsibilities: The following tasks are secondary to the primary responsibilities:
  • Manage rapidly changing situations according to established protocols, coordinating with appropriate health team members and documenting events.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing nurse-patient relationships and minimizing redundancies.
  • Complete mandatory training that includes age-specific needs and interpersonal skills as defined by the unit's care provision plan.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to evidence-based practices and promptly reporting safety concerns.
  • Demonstrate pride in work through positive interactions with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Pursue formal and independent learning opportunities to advance clinical and professional skills.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to peers and subordinates to foster a supportive professional environment.
  • Participate in performance evaluations for team members, addressing issues and assessing performance post-hire.
  • Fulfill on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred; for Magnet designated RN positions, a BSN or higher nursing degree is required.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
