We are currently in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and evaluating options for system routing and equipment room layouts, including calculations for mechanical equipment sizing, equipment selection, and coordination with other trades to optimize overall layout.
  • Reviewing engineering/system calculations and sizing of system components performed by junior engineers, and conducting calculations as needed.
  • Editing design specifications and utilizing effective writing skills to prepare meeting notes. Reviewing responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) by integrating information from project documents, specifications, shop drawings, and design criteria.
  • Assessing shop drawing submittals from junior staff and performing quality reviews of their work. Participating in additional quality assurance efforts as assigned.
  • Researching applicable codes to inform design decisions based on project location and type.
  • Acting as a primary contact for external partners, managing relevant project correspondence from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Independently developing basis of design, load calculations, and equipment selection while balancing multiple priorities and adapting to changes in deadlines, scope, and design.
  • Establishing criteria for distribution systems in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Collaborating with equipment suppliers and vendors as necessary for equipment selection.
  • Providing feedback and serving as a pilot user with the custom development team to enhance discipline practices, processes, and tools, including new proprietary design software. Assisting in training staff during the rollout of new software.
  • Managing specific projects as assigned, including overseeing financials, collaborating with team leads for project staffing, and coordinating project timelines with external partners and internal teams.
  • Delegating tasks and balancing workloads for BIM staff and junior engineers to meet client demands and project deadlines, while reviewing work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinating with outside consultants, clients, and owners to ensure project goals are achieved.

Travel Requirements:
Up to 20% domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications include a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Energy Engineering with 2 years of mechanical engineering experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with 4 years of mechanical engineering experience will be accepted. Specific experience required includes:

  • 2 years of experience in high-performance building design, including renewable energy strategies, computational fluid dynamics, indoor environmental quality, and life cycle assessment.
  • 2 years of experience utilizing load calculation software such as DOE-2 (eQUEST) or Trace.
  • 2 years of familiarity with international code council standards, LEED, and ASHRAE guidelines.
  • 2 years of experience with building information modeling (BIM) software (REVIT MEP) for system modeling and coordination with Navisworks.
  • 2 years of experience in writing construction specifications, particularly CSI Division 20 and Division 23.
