Fleet Maintenance Manager

MV Transportation is seeking a seasoned professional to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our fixed route bus operation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing maintenance functions, ensuring contractual requirements are met, and leading a team of technicians and service workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct a team of technicians and service workers to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, budgets, and reports to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop strategies to meet their expectations.
  • Manage parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of maintenance materials.
  • Develop and implement work schedules, projects, and assignments to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Manage the financial and accounting aspects of the fleet maintenance operation, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including written and oral reports, to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in fleet maintenance to ensure the highest level of service delivery.
Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience managing maintenance functions in a transit bus maintenance shop.
  • Experience managing a team of 10+ employees, including technicians, service workers, and cleaners.
  • Experience working with 50+ buses within the last year.
  • Previous experience in passenger transportation or a similar environment is preferred.
  • Ability to manage and interface with clients, including written and oral communication.
  • Ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments.
  • Ability to manage the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Technical competence with light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • ASE or manufacturer's certifications are a plus.
  • Technical experience with fixed route transit bus maintenance.
  • Solid knowledge of managing audits and PM schedules.
  • Experience with diesel, CNG, and alternative fuels is a plus.
  • CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement is required.

Starting pay range: $70,000 - $120,000
