Position Overview
The Beverage Shift Manager at Encore Boston Harbor plays a crucial role in ensuring that all Beverage staff are effectively executing their responsibilities. This position involves both the pre-deployment organization of Beverage personnel and the ongoing supervision of their performance in various service areas, including restaurants, lounges, and service bars. The Beverage Shift Manager is also responsible for aligning departmental strategies with the overall objectives of Encore Boston Harbor, maximizing opportunities for success, and maintaining high standards of service and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and uphold Encore Boston Harbor's core values and departmental standards.
  • Develop and manage short- and long-term departmental goals, policies, and procedures; assess operational effectiveness and implement necessary improvements.
  • Oversee departmental performance, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in policies and procedures.
  • Supervise team members within the department, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of service and satisfaction across the property.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the department and across the property through regular meetings.
  • Manage hiring, performance evaluations, and employee engagement initiatives within the department.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and recommend strategies for departmental success.
  • Handle guest relations with professionalism, addressing concerns as needed.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Promote positive and ethical relationships with team members and the surrounding community.
  • Ensure timely submission of beverage reports.
  • Foster high morale among team members and maintain strong customer relations.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Beverage on special projects and events.
  • Assign staff to various locations based on job requirements and individual skills.
  • Evaluate team performance and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Prioritize safety and adhere to company safety standards.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training to enhance industry knowledge.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Required to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses or certifications.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of bartending experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in various software applications.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and respond to inquiries effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to generate reports as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:
The work environment is dynamic, with varying noise levels depending on the location within the property. Team members must be adaptable to changing schedules and business needs.
