ER Service Head Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ER Service Head to join our team at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Kirkland, WA. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the ER department, overseeing ER clinicians, and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the ER schedule, including PTO requests and staff assignments
  • Facilitate regular ER clinician meetings and participate in hospital leadership meetings
  • Mentor ER clinicians and new ER/ICU support staff
  • Oversee ER clinician case management and provide guidance on case management decisions
  • Integrate emergency and specialty services to manage hospitalized cases
  • Act as a sounding board between ER clinicians and specialty clinicians, discussing concerns with the Medical Director as needed
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring patient safety reporting in the ER department
  • Contribute to recruiting new ER clinicians and ensure new hires have a mentor assigned
  • Assist with customer service issues and help management resolve issues as needed
  • Partner with hospital leadership to identify opportunities for improvement in ER patient care, medical protocols, and client service levels
Requirements:
  • DVM from an accredited university
  • Successful completion of an internship and at least three years of ER experience
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
