Job Summary:

The Program Coordinator position at Action for a Better Community, Inc. is a key role in the New Directions Substance Abuse Services Clinics. This position assists in the overall management of the staff and day-to-day program operations under the direction of the New Directions Department Director. The Program Coordinator provides services, promotes chemical dependency and mental health awareness/intervention and treatment, and plays a key administrative/supportive role in planning and implementing service activities necessary to achieve current and future program goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in providing services and promoting chemical dependency and mental health awareness/intervention and treatment
• Play a key administrative/supportive role in planning and implementing service activities
• Assist in overall management of the staff and day-to-day program operations
• Provide direct services to individuals, groups, and families impacted by substance abuse, mental health, and related issues
• Coordinate and deliver evidence-based substance abuse prevention and intervention services
• Conduct patient evaluations and develop treatment plans
• Develop consumer treatment plans, assist with goal setting, and provide information and referral services
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, direct counseling, and clinical and medical record reviews
• Coordinate and facilitate informational sessions, trainings, presentations, meetings, and special events
• Develop and facilitate sessions for diverse groups and individuals from different sectors

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation Therapy, or a closely related field
• Current certification as a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and certification as a Qualified Health Professional as defined by OASAS
• Minimum of two years of professional work experience in a substance abuse treatment facility or comparable setting
• Two years of supervisory and management experience
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a team environment
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Familiarity with NYSDOH documentation and reporting requirements and records maintenance systems
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Action for a Better Community's mission

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bi-lingual skills, ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish
• Experience working with ex-offenders, victims of domestic violence, and individuals with disorders
• Knowledge of chemical dependency and mental health issues/treatment strategies
• Knowledge of consumer/community needs, care engagement, treatment adherence barriers, related statistical data and trends in care
• Knowledge of priority populations and increasing awareness among those at high-risk of substance abuse and their family/caregivers/friends
