Position Summary

The Vice President of Tennis Pathways will play a critical role in shaping the future of NYJTL's youth tennis programs. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will oversee the design and implementation of connected tennis pathways for youth instructional programs and competitions, with a focus on community-focused initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team to develop curriculums and models that drive strategic growth, secure resources, and expand the organization's footprint throughout New York City.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design, implement, and oversee tennis pathway programs that integrate tennis with educational and mentorship programs for youth, aligning with NYJTL's goals and vision.
  • Curriculum Development: Construct and oversee curriculum development for community tennis participants, focusing on technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of the game.
  • Coaching Institute: Oversee the inception of a coaching institute to promote best practices and foster coach growth.
  • Staff Management: Lead the recruitment, training, and evaluation of coaching staff and program instructors to ensure consistency and quality across all programs.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish performance metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of programs, informing data-driven decisions for program improvement.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and oversee the work product of the pathways team, consisting of school- and community-based staff and coaches.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with the pathways team on community engagement, participant recruitment plans, and identification of new sites.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Oversee relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, elected officials, and families.
  • Revenue Management: Maintain existing program revenue and partner with the development team to explore and secure funding for programs.
  • Financial Oversight: Assist the CFO with developing and managing the budget, ensuring efficient utilization of resources while achieving program objectives.
  • Strategic Leadership: Serve as a visionary and thought partner to the CEO on major needs, decisions, and strategies.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years' progressive experience in tennis program management, with a background in education, college readiness, school environments, physical training/guidance, or similar extensive experience with tennis coaching principles, player development pathways, and competition structures at the local and national levels.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing staff, budgets, and operations.
  • Technical Skills: Technologically savvy and comfortable using data analysis tools, measuring outcomes, and reporting.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills.
  • Cultural Competency: Commitment to community programs, youth development, and education, with cultural competency, appreciation, and sensitivity toward diverse students and families.
  • Nonprofit Experience: Nonprofit industry experience preferred.
