Job Title: Certified Addiction Counselor - Community Wellness Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Certified Addiction Counselor to join our team at THE ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY WELLNESS. As a Counselor, you will provide counseling services to the Latino Community in Oakland Area, Alameda and Contra Costa County. You will work with adult men, conducting initial intake and assessments, formulating treatment recovery plans, and providing individual, group, and family counseling sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial intake and assessments
  • Formulate treatment recovery plans for program participants
  • Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions
  • Provide assessment and appropriate referrals to clients for educational, training, and other supportive services as needed
  • Maintain all client files
  • Represent clients and intervene on their behalf with probation officers, law officials, etc.
  • Maintain and submit all program documentation and reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Develop community resources for clients and family members
  • Provide assessment and appropriate referrals to clients for educational, training, and other supportive services as needed
  • Attend collaborate meetings with other agencies
  • Develop and implement educational activities for clients
  • Participate in all LFCS Activities, meetings, events, etc.
  • Complete other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Required - California Drug and Alcohol Certification (must be either a "CADC" from CCAPP, or "CATC" from CAADE, please list this designation and number clearly after candidate name on CV)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug prevention and recovery/treatment programs and principles
  • Knowledge of and sensitive to the needs of the Latino Community
  • Knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drug abuse
  • Must demonstrate ability to understand client needs and work with adult men
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification
  • Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable
  • Demonstrates and models excellent "customer service" orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency
  • Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed
  • Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties
  • Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms
  • Valid CA Driver's license
