Role Overview
This position involves collaborating with a dedicated team of category managers in the construction sector. You will work closely with Pre-Construction, Design, and Construction teams, as well as our Worldwide Real Estate and Design departments, to formulate and implement strategic sourcing plans that drive savings and enhance efficiency across the category.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead individual construction category projects, partnering with team members to ensure the successful delivery of complex, multi-million-dollar sites.
- Develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies, leading significant initiatives with cross-functional teams and guiding the category roadmap in alignment with senior leadership.
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively plan and execute site launches, particularly during peak operational periods.
- Own the targets and objectives set for the North America construction category, while identifying opportunities for process and system enhancements.
- Manage the sourcing, awarding, contracting, and ongoing support of General Contractors (GC), ensuring optimal cost and performance while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Oversee supplier performance management, focusing on sustainability and social responsibility.
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and set goals for the team, auditing progress to meet customer expectations.
- Provide market intelligence regarding categories, anticipating strategic opportunities and keeping key stakeholders informed.
Daily Responsibilities
- Deliver innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable construction solutions to empower our Operations teams and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and internal partners across various departments, including Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Workplace Health & Safety, and Finance.
- Adapt to different roles as necessary, from strategy formulation to project management, to swiftly meet customer demands.
- Focus on in-depth analysis of categories to unlock value and facilitate the deployment of emerging technologies at scale.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Proven experience in defining and executing program requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to implement repeatable processes and drive automation or standardization.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing and category management in indirect categories such as professional services, supply chain, or vendor management.
- Proficiency in Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables, data cleansing, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification.
- 5+ years of experience in construction cost management.
- Experience leading large and complex negotiations.

Our compensation reflects the labor costs across various US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year to $181,400/year, depending on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package, which may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
