Labor Relations Specialist

The Ohio Education Association is seeking a highly skilled Labor Relations Specialist to assist in the achievement of its goals through membership recruitment, promotion, and engagement. This position will support local associations and members in areas including organizing, collective bargaining, member rights advocacy, local development and training, professional efficacy, and political advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist local associations in the collective bargaining process
- Advise leaders in dealing with local operations and assist in local association program development
- Develop and disseminate general communications and serve as a public spokesperson as assigned
- Assist local associations in developing effective internal and external public relations programs
- Provide training and support to local associations and members through learning and engagement opportunities
- Assist locals with political advocacy at the local, state, and national levels
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor within the job description.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated competency and proficiency in organizing, consulting skills, political action, member advocacy, and collective bargaining
- High proficiency in exercising good judgment and reasoning skills
- Ability to creatively solve problems in a dynamic environment
- Ability to interact and consult effectively with diverse groups
- High proficiency in verbal and written communication
- Familiarity with education policy, practice, and political environment
- Proficient in technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and other online platforms
- Demonstrated ability to pursue projects with energy, drive, and perseverance
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- A valid driver's license is required
