Family Peer Support Specialist Opportunity

The Blick Center is seeking a part-time Family Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Family Peer Support Specialist, you will provide hope, guidance, and advocacy to parents and caregivers of children and youth receiving mental health, DD services, and/or other related service systems.

We are looking for family members with personal experience in providing support. As a Family Peer Support Specialist, you will deliver peer support through face-to-face support groups, phone calls, or individual meetings. You will bring expertise based on your own experience parenting children or youth with social, emotional, behavioral, or substance use challenges, as well as specialized training, to support other parents and caregivers.

This is a part-time, hourly paid position in Stark County that will be funded through a StarkMHAR (Mental Health and Recovery) Grant. Training will be provided.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Personal experience as a parent or caregiver of a child or youth with mental health, DD services, and/or other related service systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
