Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Specialty Nurse Leader to join our team at Nicklaus Children's Health System. As a key member of our operating room team, you will be responsible for coordinating specialty care services, including fiscal management and specified activities within our service line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the provision of quality patient care in accordance with our hospital's mission, goals, and philosophy.
  • Coordinate specialty care services, including fiscal management and specified activities within our service line.
  • Assist leaders with probationary and performance feedback for specialty team members.
  • Respond to and provide direction in planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating unit-related activities and specialty service activities.
  • Conduct training for new employees, serve as a preceptor for our service line, and assess employee skills and competencies.
  • Responsible for achieving specific budget targets on an annual basis and proactively addressing any variances greater than 5% with leaders.
  • Coordinate and ensure accuracy of physician preference cards to expedite all surgeries and build upon physician satisfaction.
  • Promote an "error-free" working environment by consistently providing high-quality, safe care.
  • Meet or exceed unit standards in achieving a 95% CEI, complete documentation in a timely manner, and be accountable for regulatory requirements of the DNV, CMS, DOH, and other accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain accountability by ensuring compliance through timely completion of licensures, certifications, all competencies, health requirements (PPD, N95, Flu), and education requirements.
  • Maintain professional accountability and timekeeping expectations as outlined by MCHS Timekeeping and Attendance procedures and ensure behavior is compliant with communication standards.
Qualifications
  • RN licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association BLS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association PALS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment within 2 years of hire.
  • 1-3 years Pediatric RN experience, including charge experience.
  • 1-3 years RN operation room experience.
  • BSN degree highly preferred or currently enrolled in BSN program (requiring proof) within 6 months of hire.
  • Career Development: National certification Certified Pediatric Nurse (CNOR/CPN) and/or certification equivalent, preferably within 5 years of hire.
