Position Overview

The role is primarily focused on clinical responsibilities concerning the assessment, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a collaborative setting that includes a diverse team of healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists, and social workers.

This position provides a unique opportunity to engage with a variety of pediatric cases, ranging from general to high-acuity situations. Additionally, it encompasses the teaching and oversight of medical residents, along with opportunities for involvement in research and academic publishing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilizes knowledge of pediatric growth and development in patient interactions and treatment approaches.
  • Engages in continuous self-education through professional development activities such as reading medical journals, attending conferences, and earning CME credits.
  • Facilitates and/or develops educational sessions to address the developmental needs of staff and residents.
  • Manages follow-up on diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and patient communications.
  • Delivers direct clinical services to patients, which includes:
    • Conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations.
    • Documenting and interpreting relevant patient data.
    • Formulating and recording treatment plans.
    • Issuing routine orders for laboratory tests, imaging studies, and consultations.
    • Providing education to patients and their families.
    • Assisting with patient follow-up and performing necessary screenings.
    • Administering medications as needed and conducting therapeutic and diagnostic procedures based on patient findings.

Contributes suggestions to enhance departmental operations and participates in quality improvement initiatives, research, and publication efforts.

Involves in the education of medical students and residents, serving as a role model in the clinical environment.

Participates in the on-call schedule as required.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Current medical license in good standing.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification, maintained throughout employment.
