Position Overview
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Pediatric Emergency Care, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Your responsibilities will include working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care for patients ranging from newborns to adolescents in a family-centered setting.

Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct thorough nursing assessments, including pain evaluations and vital sign monitoring, ensuring timely communication with the Registered Nurse regarding patient status and interventions.
2. Assist in the collection and transportation of specimens, medication retrieval, and perform essential procedures such as EKGs and CPR as required.
3. Execute point-of-care testing and accurately document results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including tests for RSV, Flu, Strep, and others.
4. Facilitate patient transport throughout the facility for various procedures and admissions, supporting the Registered Nurse in managing patient flow effectively during shifts.
5. Administer medications and assist with IV therapy, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
6. Engage in bedside handoff communication during shift changes and patient transfers, ensuring continuity of care.
7. Participate in discharge planning and patient education, providing necessary documentation and support to families.
8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing interventions and patient responses in accordance with departmental policies.
9. Ensure the availability of supplies and assist in room preparation and turnover to promote a safe and efficient work environment.

Qualifications
- Active LPN Licensure in the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC).
- Current CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within the first year of employment.
- PALS certification from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within two years.
- Successful completion of a Level II Background Check.

Preferred Skills
- ACLS certification within one year of employment.
- Previous nursing experience in a pediatric hospital setting.
- Completion of a 30-hour post-graduate course in IV Therapy.
- Strong skills in customer service, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and demonstrate excellent time management skills.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic patient care records and accurate medication administration calculations.
- Commitment to ethical nursing practices and collaborative teamwork.
