Job Summary

Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Educator to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Educator, you will be responsible for providing staff/professional development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and leader. This role involves developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs to meet the needs of the Sterile Processing Department and to aid in the professional development of staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of Sterile Processing staff
  • Provide expert guidance and support to staff on sterile processing procedures and best practices
  • Collaborate with medical staff, patient care staff, and interdepartmental staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination
  • Maintain open and active communication with staff to ensure understanding and compliance with sterile processing policies and procedures
  • Ensure the competency of all Sterile Processing staff and maintain education records in compliance with regulatory guidelines
  • Oversee quality and infection control initiatives for the Sterile Processing Department
  • Provide a comprehensive and technical orientation, education, and training program for Sterile Processing Department staff
  • Perform regular quality audits to ensure processes and standards are being followed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (4 years)
  • CRCST (IAHCSMM) CSPDT (CBSPD)
  • Five (5) years as a Sterile Processing Technician
  • One (1) year as a lead trainer or educator
  • Two (2) years as a Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two (2) years of Supervisor/Manager experience
  • Travel experience
