DuPont has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Organic Synthesis Scientist in the Electronics & Imaging, Semiconductor Technologies Lithography group.

The Organic Synthesis Scientist will be tasked with the design, synthesis, and analysis of small molecules, monomers, and polymers. This role encompasses both new product innovation and the enhancement of existing product lines to seize new growth opportunities. The scientist will collaborate closely with R&D formulation teams and development engineering for scale-up and manufacturing as we expand our business. The chemistry involved in Semiconductor Technologies includes free radical polymerization, polyphenylene synthesis, condensation and living anionic polymerizations, functionalized silsesquioxane synthesis, small molecule synthesis and purification, shelf life and stability studies, scale-up, and meticulous attention to quality control and manufacturability regarding metals reduction and defectivity management.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, synthesis, and development of small molecules, monomers, and polymers for semiconductor applications.
  • Utilize knowledge of multistep synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Engage in multifunctional teams to drive new product development from concept to commercialization.
  • Generate and secure intellectual property for DuPont.
  • Analyze analytical and performance data.
  • Organize and disseminate data, prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Network within the DuPont organization and external networks to identify potential technology leads and new innovations for Semiconductor Technologies Lithography.
Your Qualification Profile:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry is required.
  • Preferred understanding of polymer and small molecule design and synthesis with a proven track record.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods including polymer and film characterization techniques (GPC, IR, NRM, MS, TGA, DSC, AFM, XRR, XPS, etc.) is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diverse synthetic methodologies.
  • Proven history of safe laboratory practices and methodologies.
  • Record of achievement in a technical role.
  • Ability to innovate and define new approaches.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Business acumen.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused business unit.
