Chemical Research Technician

Key Competencies:
- Proficient knowledge in synthetic organic chemistry; experience in polymerization is advantageous.
- Skilled in assessing safety risks and reactivity issues in multigram scale multistep organic synthesis.
Core Responsibilities:
- Execute the synthesis of organic compounds and polymers at a laboratory scale, handling quantities up to several hundred grams.
- Employ analytical testing methods to support effective process development, characterize products, and guarantee the quality of final outputs.
- Maintain thorough documentation of experiments and assist in preparing technology transfer packages for Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality regulations, systems, and procedures pertaining to laboratory and scale-up operations.
- Conduct routine maintenance of the laboratory and business unit to uphold cleanliness and organization.
- Manage material and inventory databases, and procure chemical reagents from suppliers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, ideally from an American Chemical Society (ACS) accredited program.
- Comprehensive understanding of chemistry principles at the undergraduate level.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques, including distillation, filtration, closed transfer, crystallization, rotary evaporation, vacuum pumps/ovens, and both small and large-scale glassware.
- Experience in assisting senior chemists with their projects.
(HPLC, GC, MS, UV/VIS, FTIR, NMR, TLC, IR, GCMS)
- Participation in process enhancement and the development of production and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in common IT applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulousness in experimental documentation.
- Effective communication abilities.
