Cogir at the Narrows is seeking a compassionate and customer-oriented Driver to assist the Activity department within our esteemed retirement community.

The Driver/Activity Assistant will be responsible for the secure transportation of residents to various locations, including appointments and group activities, ensuring their safe boarding as needed. This position involves operating the community van three days a week and collaborating with our Activity Director and Life Enrichment team to facilitate a range of engaging activities in both small and large group settings when not driving residents. This is a full-time position, requiring five days of work each week.

Key Responsibilities of the Driver:

  • Deliver safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services for residents to various locations, including medical facilities, educational institutions, and retail stores.
  • Assist residents with entering and exiting the vehicle, utilizing wheelchair lifts or stairs as necessary; manage doors and the loading/unloading of mobility aids.
  • Lead or assist in organizing social, religious, educational, and recreational activities, both individually and in groups.
  • Facilitate engaging activities such as games, exercise classes, arts and crafts, trips, and special events.
  • Encourage resident participation in assigned activities.
  • Prepare the van for operation and oversee necessary vehicle maintenance.
  • Adhere to transportation safety protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain a valid driving license in accordance with state laws to perform transportation duties.
  • Support resident programs as needed, assisting with activity and event setups.

Qualifications We Seek:

  • A positive attitude and a commitment to serving seniors.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating larger vehicles; or a combination of relevant experience and training.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Preferred: A minimum of one year of experience in transportation services, ideally within the senior living or healthcare sectors, with a strong focus on customer service.
