Midwifery Program Coordinator Opportunity

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Midwifery Program Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about improving the health and well-being of individuals and families through midwifery care.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum for the Nurse-Midwifery Program in accordance with Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) standards.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Professional Graduate Programs to oversee the midwifery program and work with midwifery faculty within the College of Nursing faculty governance structure.
  • Lead and facilitate the establishment of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) Endowed Professorship to enhance efforts for recruitment and retention of faculty specializing in midwifery, perinatal health, maternal-child health, and women's health.
  • Provide leadership and administration for planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nurse-midwifery program, including teaching, guidance in academic matters, and securing clinical placements to ensure student success and achieve program goals.
  • Engage in mentoring, recruitment and marketing, as well as alumni and community outreach.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Three years of recent midwifery practice experience.
  • Clinical and/or didactic teaching experience.
  • Active midwifery license and national certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership and/or management experience.
  • Experience working with rural and/or underserved populations.
  • Experience in program administration and/or curriculum development.
  • Experience teaching in a midwifery program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
