Human Resources Internship Overview

The International Institute of New England is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting refugees and immigrants. We provide internship opportunities for students and recent graduates who are passionate about aiding diverse populations. Each internship includes an educational aspect, allowing interns to reflect on their experiences and contributions.

This internship is unpaid and follows the academic semester structure:

Internship Duration: September through mid-December
(Applications are accepted until positions are filled)

Priority will be given to candidates who can commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week during the internship period. We encourage all interested applicants to apply, regardless of their availability; exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. Early applications are recommended as positions may fill quickly.

Please note that this internship will adopt a hybrid model, requiring some in-person attendance at our office.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Recruiter on staffing initiatives, including participating in career fairs, conducting phone screenings, processing new hires, and facilitating onboarding training. Support the job description database project by standardizing templates, reviewing requirements with hiring managers, and compiling training checklists for various roles. Assist in auditing the Predictive Index (PI) process to ensure data entry compliance, communicate with staff lacking PI data, and map departmental scores. Engage in additional projects and responsibilities as assigned, tailored to the intern's educational objectives.

Qualifications:

A strong interest in international, refugee, asylee, and immigrant issues. A keen interest in human resources, systems, data management, and networking. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with a strong attention to detail. Capability to manage multiple tasks and adapt quickly. Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with HR databases and systems is advantageous.
