Position Overview

Under the general guidance of the Associate Director for Counseling and Rape Crisis Services, the Rape Crisis Advocate plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive 24-hour support services for victims and survivors of sexual and relationship violence, as well as their families and friends. This position is integral to the implementation of violence prevention initiatives and educational programs aimed at fulfilling grant, program, and departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide short-term peer counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Offer medical, legal, and academic advocacy, along with safety planning and case management.
  • Facilitate support groups across Hampshire County.
  • Engage with other service providers to discuss client needs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and protocols regarding privileged communication and mandated reporting.
  • Participate in the daily management of 24-hour crisis services, including hotline scheduling and staffing.
  • Assist in training and supervising program staff.
  • Contribute to violence prevention outreach and education for diverse populations.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and generate necessary reports.
  • Foster positive relationships with partners and stakeholders.

  • Perform related tasks as required to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
  • Understand responsibilities regarding Title IX and Clery compliance.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement and success.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to support the mission of Student Affairs and Campus Life.
  • Uphold standards of integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Safeguard sensitive university-related information.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field or two years of college coursework.
  • Experience in providing culturally responsive services.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Box, and Google Docs.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of related experience, including counseling.
  • Experience in the field of sexual and relationship violence.
  • Skills in training, curriculum development, and staff supervision.
  • Completion of recognized Rape Crisis Counselor or Domestic Violence Counselor training.
  • Awareness of contemporary social movements and trends affecting campus life.
  • Bilingual capabilities.
Working Conditions

Ability to travel to various work-related sites. The role is performed in a dynamic, crisis-response environment.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week; 52 weeks per year.

Salary Information

Level 25 PSU Salary Range.
