Role OverviewUnder the guidance of the Associate Director for Counseling and Rape Crisis Services, this role is pivotal in delivering essential support services to victims and survivors of sexual and relationship violence, as well as their families and friends. The position also involves active participation in educational initiatives aimed at violence prevention.
Key Responsibilities- Provide immediate peer counseling and crisis intervention.
- Offer advocacy in medical, legal, and academic contexts.
- Develop safety plans and manage cases effectively.
- Facilitate support groups across the community.
- Collaborate with other service providers to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and maintain confidentiality.
- Oversee the daily operations of 24-hour crisis services, ensuring hotline coverage and staffing.
- Participate in training, selection, and supervision of program staff.
- Engage in outreach and educational efforts to promote violence prevention.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports to document service data.
- Foster positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Perform related tasks as necessary to support departmental goals.
- Comply with Title IX and Clery Act requirements.
- Demonstrate commitment to student engagement and success.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders to enhance student affairs initiatives.
- Uphold ethical standards and ensure a respectful workplace.
- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Handle sensitive information responsibly and confidentially.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate's degree in a relevant field or two years of related coursework.
- Experience in providing culturally sensitive services.
- Strong multitasking abilities and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
- Valid driver's license and access to transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the field of sexual and relationship violence.
- Background in training, curriculum development, or group facilitation.
- Completion of recognized counseling training programs.
- Knowledge of current social issues and trends affecting campus life.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
This role requires travel to various locations and involves working in a dynamic, crisis-oriented setting.
Work ScheduleThis position entails a commitment of 37.5 hours per week.
Salary InformationCompensation is based on Level 25 PSU Salary Range.
