Job Summary

Rocketship Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Leader Development to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the leadership capabilities of our school leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coach and Develop School Leaders
    • Partner with Vice Presidents of Schools and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and develop coaching plans to support school leaders.
    • Provide regular coaching and feedback to school leaders to enhance their instructional and leadership skills.
  • Build Strong Relationships with School Leaders
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with school leaders to understand their needs and provide targeted support.
    • Collaborate with school leaders to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address these areas.
  • Support the Development of a Strong Leadership Pipeline
    • Partner with the regional team to develop and implement strategies to identify, develop, and retain talented school leaders.
    • Support the creation and implementation of coaching plans for rising leaders to ensure a consistent pipeline of internal leaders ready to fill principal vacancies.
  • Lead Effective Professional Development
    • Design and deliver professional development sessions for school leaders to enhance their instructional and leadership skills.
    • Collaborate with the regional team to oversee the preparation, execution, and follow-up of nationally-led professional development programs.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
    • 3+ years principal experience and/or 6+ years of instructional and leadership coaching experience required.
  • Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Proven ability to analyze and interpret data to identify trends, identify root causes, and develop strategies and tactics that yield results and achieve goals.
    • Proven ability to develop effective partnerships with multiple stakeholders working towards the same outcome.
    • Proven ability to drive improvements in student outcomes through instructional and leadership coaching.
    • Proven ability to provide clear, actionable feedback verbally and in writing that leads to improvements in leadership practices.
    • Ability to design and facilitate engaging and impactful professional development sessions for adults.
    • Exceptional ability to coach adults and inspire significant change in their actions.
    • Skills in critical thinking and problem-solving, along with the ability to coach and develop these in others.
    • Skills in organization, prioritization, follow-through, and attention to detail, with the ability to coach these in others.
    • Skills in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to manage and monitor multiple projects at once, often under pressure with competing priorities and tight turnarounds, while maintaining composure, ensuring quality, and achieving results.
    • Marked experience and commitment to building and maintaining a culture of high integrity, mutual respect, operational excellence, and prioritization of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Proficiency in Relay Graduate School of Education frameworks and protocols (Observation Feedback, Weekly Data Meetings, Action Steps, See It Name It Do, etc.) strongly preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

$145,000 - $165,000 a year
