Job Summary:The Surgical Oncology Navigator will serve as an advocate and educator for patients and their families throughout the surgery and cancer continuum. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Treat patients with dignity and professionalism, providing competent clinical care during office visits.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Provide education and resources to patients and their families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
- Support patients and families in coping with the psychological aspects of cancer, offering guidance and emotional support.
- Coordinate appointments with providers, ensuring timely delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and clinicians, relaying messages and following up as needed.
- Ensure all necessary materials are available for each new patient visit, preparing records and forms as required.
- Elicit patient clinical information to facilitate appropriate scheduling of referrals and new appointments.
- Actively identify and address barriers to care, connecting patients with resources and social support systems.
- Network and cultivate relationships with hospital and community services, providing community education to raise public awareness.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a related field (Surgery/Oncology).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and critical thinking abilities.
- Good computer skills, with proficiency in relevant software and systems.
