Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Aide to join our team at Hartwell Health & Rehab. As a Food Service Aide, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care through the preparation and serving of nutritious meals and snacks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the cook in preparing desserts or snacks for patients, maintaining a clean and safe environment in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Assist with the preparation of meals, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Carry trays to patients on the halls, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of meals.
  • Clean tables in the dining area after each meal, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Help with salads, desserts, and other dishes, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist with the pouring of juice, milk, water, and tea, ensuring accurate and timely service.
  • Serve patients beverages and other items, maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Take meals out to patients in the dining area, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Prepare between-meal nourishments, such as sandwiches and snacks, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Clean the work area at the end of each shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping.
  • Remove garbage from kitchen areas and hose out garbage containers, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Comply with infection control policies in the work area, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Scrape dishes, wash dishes, pots, and pans, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Record freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established procedures.
  • Check stock as needed, ensuring adequate supplies and inventory.
  • Puts up stock in the appropriate manner, maintaining a clean and organized storage area.
  • Stores cleaning materials appropriately, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Sets up tray line and performs tray line service, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of meals.
  • Follows diet orders and NPO diet orders, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Offers menu substitutions and records them in accordance with procedural guidelines.
  • Properly stores leftovers and opened food, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Serves nourishments in accordance with procedural guidelines, ensuring accurate and timely service.
  • Makes coffee and tea as requested, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Follows procedures for serving associate meals, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Cleans kitchen equipment, such as carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, oven, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine, coffee/tea maker, and steam table, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Operates the dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer, and steamer, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Operates coffee and tea maker, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Follows standardized recipes, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Uses serving equipment, such as ladle, spoon, scoops, and other utensils, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Checks and records water temperature, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Checks dishwasher with sanitizer strips, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Checks chemical levels and replaces if needed, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Promotes the image and reputation of CHSGa by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
  • Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of CHSGa.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of CHSGa.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.

Language Skills

The ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of CHSGa.

Mathematical Skills

The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format. The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Application Skills
