Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Float Pool team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires strong clinical leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

About the Role

This position involves working within the nursing process to provide direct care to assigned patients, as well as assuming relief charge duties when designated. As a leader on our team, you will serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and ensure adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients, considering age-specific considerations.
  • Clinical Leadership: Provide guidance and support to other staff members, promoting a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Care Planning: Work with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, incorporating discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations, including sudden adverse developments in patients.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid RN license in New Mexico or eligibility for reciprocity.
  • CPR certification (BLS provider or professional rescuer) within 30 days of hire.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills (non-essential).
Physical and Working Conditions

This is a heavy work role, requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds constantly. You will also be working in environments where chemicals and bio-hazardous materials are present, requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated at $63,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
